Q: Where are you from?
A: South Dakota!
Q: How long have you been working here?
A: Just over a year. Jason began working for CSS in the spring of 2012.
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
A: Jason is happily married with a daughter named Kylee who is almost 14 months old. He enjoys all sorts of athletics including football, cross country, and track. Jason also loves to work out, and he has a deep passion for triathlons!
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: Jason enjoys “all the normal stuff” such as hanging out and relaxing with his family, and especially playing with his daughter.
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
A: People may be surprised to learn that Jason was a linebacker on his football team at The University of Sioux Falls. While there, he also ran track and majored in Exercise Science.
Q: What is your favorite thing about CSS and the community?
A: Jason enjoys the energy of the students, faculty, and staff here at CSS. He appreciates that CSS is proactive about healthy living, and that there is a great positive atmosphere here on campus.
Q: Could you describe some of the benefits of the WELLU’s Shape Up program?
A: Shape Up is a great way to get started or get back on track working out, which Jason claims can be the hardest part. The goal of the program as Jason sees it is to simply get participants into a routine that they feel comfortable with.
Q: How do you cater to each individual and their physical capabilities?
A: Jason carefully assesses any injuries and health limitations for each participant. Through experience, he learns what works for each individual so that he can cater a fitness program to fit their needs. All participants are different.
Q: What is your advice to hesitant participants?
A: With a smile on his face, Jason stated, “I’m not going to beat you up!” His goal is to get you hooked on working out.
