CSS Awarded LEED Certification for Practicing Sustainability!

Recently, The College of St. Scholastica was featured in a leading article of the Cable Newsletter for receiving LEED Certification for the new science addition. Granted by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED stands for Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design. In order to provide LEED certification to a green building, a series of ratings are determined based upon how well the building does in each of several categories. These include sustainable sites, water efficiency, and indoor environment. Four levels of certification, including certification, silver, gold, and platinum, are available for the building in question. Although The College of St. Scholastica had aimed to receive a silver level certification, it instead received a gold certification. This award is an admirable recognition of the green initiatives CSS has pursued within the addition of the science building as well as throughout campus.
